The Speech-Language-Hearing Association of Western New York (SHAWNY) is a professional and educational organization. Our membership includes speech-language pathologists and audiologists practicing in a wide variety of settings. These settings include hospitals, health care facilities, private practice, nursing homes, school districts, and public and private agencies. It is dedicated to providing continuing education and up-to-date information through workshops, lectures, current legislation, and community service.
In this capacity, SHAWNY is pleased to offer one $1000.00 scholarship to a graduate level speech-language pathology or audiology student.
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Current graduate students in the areas of speech-language pathology or audiology (including final semester graduate students, as the award may be applied to professional fees or student loans).
- Student must currently attend one of the following regional schools: SUNY at Buffalo, Buffalo State College, SUNY at Fredonia
- Must be a SHAWNY student member (you may join at this time for a fee of $20.00- see enclosed application form if needed).
- Participation in a final interview if deemed necessary by the scholarship committee.
The scholarship will be awarded based on leadership, community involvement, clinical experiences, an essay, academic performance, and additional experiences. The scholarship recipient will be notified in mid-April. This year’s scholarship award is a one-time payment of $1000.00 to one graduate recipient.
**The deadline for this scholarship is April 1, 2021. This includes all scholarship application materials, letters of recommendation, transcripts, etc. Scholarship materials received after this date will be considered late and therefore ineligible for consideration. There are no exceptions! Applications and all corresponding materials (transcripts, letters of recommendation, application, essay, etc.) should be sent in a single e-mail to tpanzarella@autism-services-inc.org with “2021 SHAWNY Scholarship Application” noted in the subject line.
