ARC of Genesee Orleans: Supervising Speech Pathologist

We are currently hiring for a Supervising Speech Pathologist.
The Supervisory Speech Pathologist acts as Rainbow Preschool’s representative to oversee the Speech Department, staff, and services. The Supervisory Speech Pathologist will assist parents in gaining access to supports and services, will function as the evaluation team leader for speech evaluations and is part of the evaluation team. The Supervisory Speech Pathologist supports training, peer review, and clinical fellowships and maintains a schedule and caseload for all staff of the Speech Department. The position assists the Director of Education with administrative support and supervision to ensure compliance with laws and regulations and supports the mission of Rainbow Preschool and the Arc of Genesee Orleans. Preschool located in Genesee and Orleans County.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
Supervising the speech and language program daily, including training and assigning personnel engaged in speech and language instruction and therapy activities and monitoring the quality of therapy. Schedules personnel and directs education planning, instruction, and therapy. Develops and prepares lesson plans and instructional materials and participates in instruction for individuals and groups. Works with teachers and related service providers to follow-up on recommendations and integrate speech and language goals into the classroom setting. Reviews the Individual Education Plan (IEP) and IPSP for each assigned student and submits addendums as needed. Ensures general attractiveness and suitability of the therapy area and preschool, as well as assisting in supervision and safety of students during arrival, instruction, meals, toileting, and dismissal through direct observations and/or supervision of program staff. Completes and reviews submission of inventory of the requisitions for materials, equipment, and supplies needed for speech and language instruction. Responsible for completing daily notes and annual review of documents. Participates and attends meetings and trainings as assigned by the director including curriculum committee, intake meetings, CPSE, CSE, and ISP and other meetings as requested and/or assigned. Completes annual evaluations for all staff of the speech and language department by required timeline and dates. Communicates with parents, Preschool Family Services and other responsible individuals/agencies regarding student progress, problems, and agency referrals. May be required to work during breaks to provide Early Intervention speech therapy services. Provides clinical fellowship year supervision. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge: New York State Licensure as a Speech Pathologist required. College level knowledge of speech and language instruction and therapy, typically acquired through the attainment of a New York State Certification in speech and hearing handicap and a Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology.
Experience: Knowledge of child development and developmental disabilities is required. Three or more years of direct experience working with Early Intervention and Preschool populations preferred.
Skills/Aptitude: Ability to deal with people at all organizational levels and good administrative, analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and oral and written communication skills are required.
Working Conditions: Office, classroom, and varied community settings. Extra hours and travel may be required.
